Als Offshore Site Manager (OSM) bist du für die Überwachung und Steuerung der Betriebs-, Störungsbeseitigungs- und Instandhaltungsaktivitäten (Operation & Maintenance) im Offshore-Windpark zur Gewährleistung des sicheren und wirtschaftlichen Betriebs sowie für die Identifizierung von Optimierungspotenzialen zur Verringerung von Ausfallzeiten und zur Produktivitätssteigerung verantwortlich.

· Berufsausbildung mit Abschluss als Ingenieur, Meister oder staatl. Geprüfter Techniker oder entsprechende Berufserfahrung

Ausbildung und Kenntnisse, die zur Qualifikation als „Anlagen- oder Arbeitsverantwortlicher“ nach (DIN VDE 0105-100) bzw. Ernennung zum „Schaltberechtigten“ befähigen, sind von Vorteil

Your Role in the Bigger Picture

The Offshore Site Manager (OSM) is the central link between the offshore team, the onshore control centre, and the wider asset management organisation. You ensure that all operational activities are aligned with Veja Mate's safety, quality, and performance standards. While the day-to-day work is demanding, it is also highly rewarding: you will see the direct impact of your decisions on turbine availability, energy yield, and the long-term health of the wind farm. This role is not just about reacting to faults; it is about proactively shaping the operational strategy and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

As OSM, you will be expected to act as a role model for safety leadership. You will champion the 'safety first' mindset in every toolbox talk, every work order, and every shift handover. You will also be a key driver of operational excellence, using data and frontline feedback to refine processes and eliminate inefficiencies. Your ability to communicate clearly and build trust with technicians, engineers, and external contractors will be essential to your success.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities and Workflow

No two days are the same offshore, but a typical shift follows a structured rhythm. You will start with a morning briefing with the shift team to review the weather forecast, vessel movements, and the status of ongoing work. You will then prioritise tasks for the day, balancing urgent corrective maintenance with planned preventive work. Throughout the day, you will monitor the SCADA system, coordinate with the Marine Coordination Centre, and make real-time decisions about resource allocation, access restrictions, and work permits.

Your responsibilities can be grouped into four core areas:

• Operational Oversight: Supervising all O&M activities, including troubleshooting, component replacements, and inspections. You ensure that work is executed safely, on time, and to specification.
• Safety Management: Implementing and enforcing the site safety rules, conducting safety walks, leading incident investigations, and promoting a just culture where near-misses are reported and learned from.
• Team Leadership: Managing and developing the offshore technicians and contractors. You will assign tasks, provide on-the-job coaching, and conduct performance reviews.
• Stakeholder Communication: Liaising with the onshore operations team, OEM representatives, marine coordinators, and grid operators. You will provide regular status updates and escalate issues when necessary.

Working Offshore: Environment, Rotation, and Logistics

The Veja Mate offshore wind farm is located approximately 95 kilometres off the German coast in the North Sea. The journey by crew transfer vessel (CTV) takes around three to four hours, depending on weather and sea state. During your rotation, you will live and work on the offshore substation or a service operation vessel (SOV). The accommodation is comfortable but compact, with shared cabins, a mess room, and recreational facilities. You must be prepared for the unique challenges of offshore life: limited personal space, continuous noise and vibration, and the constant presence of the sea.

Veja Mate operates a two-week on / two-week off rotation for offshore personnel. This schedule allows for extended periods of rest and recuperation onshore, but it also requires a high degree of flexibility and resilience. You will need to be able to switch quickly between the offshore and onshore worlds, and to maintain strong relationships with family and friends despite the distance. Weather is the single biggest factor influencing offshore operations. High winds, rough seas, and fog can halt vessel transfers and crane lifts for days at a time. As OSM, you must be adept at reading weather forecasts and adapting plans accordingly. You will work closely with the marine coordinators to identify suitable weather windows for critical tasks, and you will ensure that the team is ready to mobilise at short notice when conditions improve.

Technical Competencies and Continuous Learning

To excel in this role, you need a solid technical foundation in wind turbine technology, high-voltage systems, and marine operations. You should be familiar with the main components of a modern offshore wind turbine: rotor, gearbox, generator, converter, and control systems. You should also understand the principles of SCADA, condition monitoring, and remote diagnostics. While you are not expected to be a specialist in every area, you must be able to interpret technical reports, challenge assumptions, and make informed decisions.
