Student Positions

Student Positions

At Veja Mate, our student positions offer a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the operation of one of Europe’s most advanced offshore wind farms. As a working student, you will support a variety of activities that are essential to maintaining the technical integrity of our offshore structures, ensuring high production availability, and driving cost reductions. This is not a passive learning role—you will be embedded in real projects, collaborating with experienced engineers and managers who are shaping the future of renewable energy. Whether you are studying engineering, data science, business, or a related field, your work here will have a tangible impact on the energy transition.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will be as diverse as the challenges of offshore wind. You will assist in monitoring the condition of our turbines, foundations, and electrical systems, helping to identify potential issues before they affect production. This includes analyzing sensor data, reviewing inspection reports, and supporting the planning of maintenance campaigns. You will also contribute to projects aimed at reducing operational costs—for example, by optimizing logistics, streamlining documentation, or evaluating new technologies. In addition, you may support our team in preparing technical documentation, coordinating with contractors, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

Because Veja Mate operates in a dynamic and highly regulated environment, you will gain exposure to the full lifecycle of offshore asset management. You will learn how we balance technical reliability with commercial efficiency, and how we adapt to changing weather windows, grid requirements, and market conditions. Your input will be valued from day one, and you will be encouraged to bring fresh perspectives to longstanding challenges.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from students who are curious, proactive, and eager to learn. You should be enrolled in a relevant degree program—such as mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, renewable energy, industrial engineering, or a comparable field—and have at least two semesters of study completed. Strong analytical skills and a structured way of working are essential, as is the ability to communicate clearly in English; German is a plus but not mandatory. Experience with data analysis tools, CAD software, or programming languages like Python or R is an advantage, but more important is your willingness to dive into complex technical topics.

You do not need to be an expert in offshore wind to apply. What matters is your motivation to understand how a large-scale renewable energy asset is operated and your commitment to making a difference. We value diversity of thought and background, and we encourage applications from students of all nationalities and disciplines.

Your Development and Support

As a working student at Veja Mate, you will be assigned a mentor who will guide you through your tasks and help you set learning goals. You will participate in regular team meetings and have the opportunity to present your work to colleagues and management. We believe in learning by doing, but we also invest in formal training where it adds value—for example, in safety inductions, software tools, or industry standards. Many of our former working students have gone on to write their thesis with us or to join us as full-time engineers after graduation.

You will also become part of a company culture that is collaborative, open, and driven by a shared purpose. Our offices are located in Hamburg, a vibrant city with a strong maritime and renewable energy community. While some tasks can be performed remotely, we expect you to be present on-site for at least two days per week to foster collaboration and mentorship.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly wage and flexible working hours that accommodate your study schedule.
  • Real responsibility on projects that directly affect the performance of a 402 MW offshore wind farm.
